Last night, after maybe 10 years of juuuuust missing them, we finally saw at Brooklyn Steel.

Kind of an older crowd because holy crap this band is like 22 years old now! It’s always interesting to hear a crowds reaction to a band playing its “hits” that have never received any airplay whatsoever. And yeah, they brought all those hits, Letter From an Occupant, Sing Me Spanish Techno, The Laws Have Changed...if I wrote those songs I’d play them every night too.

It has come to my attention that the snare drum part for Soul Bossa Nova (aka the Austin Powers theme song) is the same as in Bela Lugosi's Dead, and now that's all I'm going to think of when I hear either song.

Hearing ZVVL (Chvrches), which I'm pretty sure is about not being afraid to find yourself, play over the scene of Lucifer discovering someone stole his wings is hella bizarre, like a song about accepting death and reincarnation playing over a psychopath dancing in the skin suit he made and earlier a sex scene, or a couple bringing home their new baby to a song about dealing with your friend possibly ending up in an early grave due to drug abuse. People gotta listen to lyrics.

Hey guys, it's time for What's Nicole Put On Loop This Week?
Why, it's Signals, Calls, and Marches, the first Mission of Burma EP!

Hey cool I can listen to the local LPFM urban station up here!

i'm honestly offended by this country-rock cover of Everybody Wants to Rule the World on Radio con Vos rn
it's too peppy

I've listened to little else over the past three days than this Adrian Belew cut from 1990.

Well, I told myself I wasn't going to sign up on a bunch of instances, but the more I've thought about the more I've realized it's the social media outlet I've been waiting for; any time I'm moved enough by a song/album/band I'm really digging in the moment to post elsewhere, I pretty much get crickets.

I might get crickets here too, but at least I feel like people here "get it."

Musically? Grew up listening to my parents' , , , , and , with a dab of thrown in.

Also grew up listening to my older brother's , which colors my prejudices and preferences to this day. But I've definitely branched out. (See also: @banjo)
