Alright, about a week ago I got a new to me, very nice stereo.

There's a vintage Harmon Kardon a500 amp, and a pair of polk s15 speakers, hooked up to a new (and decidedly mediocre) audio technica LP-60.

I have a new table on the way, but until that time, this will get the job done.

The amp does it's job, and has a big warm sound.

The speakers have enough bottom end to rattle the windows, without being boomy. They're actually really open and natural sounding.

Basically every night since then, I've listened to one or more records in their entirety.

I started with Chet Baker, followed by The Beatles. Pepper and Abbey Road. I did a thread about that on my other account:

Since then, I've listened to The 13th floor elevators (psychadelic sounds of and Bull of the Woods), Thee American Revolution (self titled, from the giuy from The Apples in Stereo, but Crunchy), the first Alabama Shakes album (it *does the thing*) and several blues records.

Tonight, I think I'm going to go for Tangerine Zoo.

I changed my mind! Behind Tangerine Zoo (Which I love) was Miles Davis' Jack Johnson (which is one of my top 10 albums of all time.)

So I'm listening to Miles Davis' Jack Johnson.

Alright, miles is over.

Now we're listening to the first Tangerine Zoo album.

You can hear it here:

It's a garage album. It opens with a cover of Gloria that absolutely Ooozes with style.

The rest of it is not bad, but Gloria is probably the peak.

The LP after this one was called "Outside Looking in", and is much better as I recall (but that's not what I'm listening to right now.)

Side one was better than I remember. Some slow moments, but lots of real sloppy guitar.

Side two is starting strong.

I got distracted, and nothing on Side Two undistracted me, but now I'm listening to their second album, Outside Looking In, and it is a Much stronger release.

Yep. it was great.

Now, the seeds? or the Sky Saxon Blues Band? Or Ellie Pop? Or ... let's see what I pull off the shelf.

Landed on In the Aeroplane over the Sea, which I'm glad to say sounds Transcendent.

"And in my dreams you're alive and you're crying"

"Now you're a little boy in spain, playing pianos filled with flames"

"brother see, we are one in the same, and you left with your head filled with flames."

"God is a place you will wait for the rest of your life/Two Headed Boy/She is all you could need/She will Feed you Tomatoes/And radio Wire/And retire to sheets safe and clean/ But don't hate her when she gets up to leave"

Alright, I switched to The Brotherhood of Man for a minute.

They are Going way too hard for 10:20. This song says "in the evening time and any other time you'll see me, I'll be high" and then the dude just Shreds for like four minutes.

Just so much heavier and more aggressive than I expected or remembered.

So I think I'm going to retire.
